Some great discussions this week in Calgary at the latest of the Spend Management Day series...the first ever in Western Canada. Chris Sawchuk of Hackett kicked off the proceedings talking about the 'New Normal', a theme that was repeated throughout the day. The remainder of the day was led by Ariba customers including Fiserv, Rock-Tenn, and PWC who collaborated with attendees on a number of topics and themes including best practices in building sourcing pipeline, their business case in rolling out procurement solutions, and what the 'New Normal' means to each of them.
A recurring theme that each and every presenter touched on, as well as many in attendance, was the need for improved visibility given the ever-increasing goals to be achieved with continuing constraints in resources and budget. Whether talking about spend analysis, sourcing, procurement, or cash management, the group was in violent agreement that visibility is needed across the board into data, processes, and external market dynamics.
