We wrapped up the 2011 North American Ariba Commerce Summits this week with the event in San Francisco. And for the 2nd year in a row, I was really struck by how great it was to have buyers and sellers in the same room talking about how best to work with one another. I suspect many on the buy side are leery of being put in the same room with would-be suppliers. But the tone of the events enables everyone to let their guard down and, dare I say, collaborate. After all, who better to guide a buyer on how to buy a category than a supplier? And who best to provide a seller with insights on the mind of a buyer than a buyer?
