Success with using a reseller

    I am very interested in what others in the financial services industry are doing to efficiently procure hardware and software products.  We have in the past consolidated through preferred resellers (with punchout catalogs in Ariba) but I am having difficulty selling this approach to my new sourcing team.  I understand that software procurement in a regulated world must include specific OEM contracts but do you also require OEM contracts for all of your hardware products?  I know that direct procurement with all of our software and hardware OEMs is unrealistic from a workload perspective.  Looking for your thoughts...
