Getting your name out there with new customers can be challenging, especially if you’re a small or midsized business. Yet as an Ariba® Network supplier, you have a distinct advantage—since SAP Ariba is always looking for innovative ways to help you connect with qualified buyers.

 

One great example is the first-ever Seller Showcase held at SAP Ariba Live in Las Vegas, an exciting event that gave a group of suppliers the chance to promote their products and services in real time.

 

Fast, fun, and effective

Based on a variety of selection criteria, 10 different suppliers—including eight small and medium-sized businesses—were chosen to participate. Held during lunch on day one of the conference, the Seller Showcase attracted a sizable crowd of buyers from the 2,500+ attendees gathered in the Commerce Pavilion to eat, interact, and engage with sponsors.

 

Emcee Buck Hujabre led the fast-paced exchange on the stage, engaging participants with relevant, rapid-fire questions designed to highlight the diversity of their business. Topics included:

 

  • What sets your company apart from the competition?
  • What’s one thing a buyer might not know about your business?
  • What’s the most exciting innovation you’re working on right now?
  • How do you sell to the millennial generation of buyers?
  • How would you describe your business in just one word?

 

A prize drawing at the end of the showcase added extra incentive to keep everyone in their seats, and attendees were encouraged to continue the conversation with suppliers in their booths and on the floor.

 

Spreading the word

Participants are also benefiting from efforts to extend the showcase impact well beyond the conference itself. For example, during US National Small Business Week in May, SAP Ariba featured the smaller suppliers in a social media campaign titled “SMBs that Think Big and Sell Simple and Smarter with SAP Ariba.” In addition to posts on Facebook and LinkedIn plus a five-hour “Twitter takeover,” clips of supplier presentations appear as a featured playlist on the SAP Ariba YouTube channel. Suppliers can also leverage the clips in their own marketing as a quick, catchy way to show what their business is all about.

 

 

 

“A strong tool for my marketing efforts”

Suppliers got a lot out of the showcase and expressed eagerness to keep the momentum going. “It was an enjoyable experience, and the exposure was worthwhile,” says Derek Rider, CEO of Media One Creative. “We plan to release our showcase video clip on LinkedIn and through some of our marketing channels.” Avi Solomon, director of sales at UnbeatableSale, offers similar feedback. “The video produced from the Seller Showcase has become a strong tool for my marketing efforts,” he says, noting that the YouTube exposure is helping him promote his brand to thousands of people. It’s an opportunity he definitely recommends to other suppliers. “If you’re confident in your product and have no fears about public speaking, participating in the Seller Showcase can only benefit your company.”
