Ariba 9r1 Buyer and Sourcing Integration for Spot Sourcing

    Laurent Low Expert

      Hi

Has any on-premise customer managed to integrate their Ariba 9r1 Buyer Requisition moduel with Ariba 9r1 Sourcing module for spot sourcing purposes ? The spot sourcing capability which was present in the Ariba Buyer 8,2 and Ariba Sourcing 4.4 versions have been removed from Ariba 9r1.

If you have , we would be interested on how you did it.  Solutions Providers/Implementors, who done such custom integhration for your customers/clients you are also invited to provide proposals to us.

      Thank you

Hi Laurent,  Currently there are interfaces available within Ariba Sourcing that will allow you to import data generated from Ariba Buyer, but you will need to develop the functionality within Ariba Buyer 9r1 to mimic the Spot Sourcing functionality. With that said, you can engage Ariba Consulting to do it for you.

Let me know if you would like Ariba Consulting to reach out to you to help develop the 9r1 Spot Sourcing functionality. They can listen to your requirements and provide a Statement of Work describing what needs to be done and how much it will cost.

Is there a document on this ?  Also we dont see any Ariba Sourcing JavaDoc unlike Ariba Buyer . Any reason why ?

You will be great if Ariba can reinstate the spot source capability as what was available for Ariba 8.2 and Ariba Sourcing 4.4  in a future release or service pack.  It is kind of odd now to want customer to pay to re-introduce a capability that was present all along until Ariba 9r1 came along .

But if Ariba has no intention or plans to reinstate this capability then the options we have are

              (a)  let users manually transcribe information in the Requsition into the RFX document and vice-versa transcribe bid information back into the Requisition object.  Users have to be very careful not to submit award winner until the Requsition document is fully approved and PO issued.  Highly inefficient and prone to human error

              (b) Engage and pay third parties to re-introduce this capability . Incur additional costs to customer that should not have been in the first place

Alternatively ,  Ariba can share with us customers what Buyer and Sourcing APIs and the Channels (HTTP or cXML etc ) are available to us  so that we the affected customers can try to build a bridge between PR and sourcing project .

              Laurent,

We have developed a custom interface to integrate Ariba Buyer Requisition module with Sourcing Project for one of our Ariba 9r1 Customer. It worked very well

User can create Aggregate PR by aggregating multiple similar items from different PR

Initiate Sourcing Project with the aggregated PR.

Once they have awarded, the price will automatically update the aggregated PR.

              Thanks & Regards
