In Ariba, once you have selected the template and created the project then you cannot change the template.
It is not feasible to change the template once the project is created. The contract will inherit the current version of the template while creation. Even if you update the same template and publish a new version, contract will stick to the template version(even if you amend a published contract) which was active during creation. To utilize a new/ updated template, you will have to create a new workspace/ project.
Everyone else covered this nicely, but the two cents I would add are a general overarching rule of thumb – changes to the template are point in time based. The change will apply to anything created after that change is implemented and going forward. Anything already in flight (draft, draft amendment, in approval, in signature) will not inherit the new question or change to the template.
